Tested this with a 27 Apple iMac, Surface Pro 7 and Surface Pro 8 and two lenovo laptops and one Asus ROG laptop.. Unit worked with all systems i tried it on. I was able to use the 120gb of the drive in the slot and had no issues reading or writing data to the drive. It also ejects fine with each of the systems as well.

This thing is really nice. Works with both USB and USB-C connections. Super easy to connect up and nothing to install. Try to with both PC and Mac and work great. Highly recommend getting us if you’re looking for an easy way to recover any data from previous systems.

The other feature i saw that i almost didn't catch at first was the cable.. It has an adapter built in that allows it to be a USB A or USB C. This allows for alot of versatility when you are connecting it to different types of systems (some that have USB c and others that dont).

First off my CDM image I want to address. The speeds there are slow. The Orico isn't to blame. That 1tb drive is notoriously hard to run, as it was the first ever 1tb consumer drive. It had poor power use and slow speeds, this external ran it just fine and at the same speed as internal. Which itself many other external sata adapters can not do.

Quality of the drive is spot on with what i would expect for enclosures of this type. I do love the fact that it works with SATA drives that are either 3.5 or 2.5 inches. This is not for Ribbon ATA drives.. this is for SATA Drives only.

I highly recommend this product as well as any other product that Orico makes. I have never run across anything that Orico makes that has disappointed me in any way... This brand does not disappoint...

I have tons of enclosures that i use when i need to get a hard drive up and running to pull data off them. This hub is perfect!. I much rather have the ability to just plug the drive in and not having to install/uninstall a drive into an enclosure just to use it. This makes it fast, convenient and simple.

This HD docking station is well made and does what it says very well. I like the fact that they've included a universal plug so that you can use this here (in the USA) as well as in Europe. This is a nice added feature that is welcome... I also like the fact that this docking station supports HD's up to 18TB at USB 3.0 speeds... This is a very welcome addition that will be greatly appreciated.

Aside from those two things (feels cheap and weird power adapter setup), it seems to work great. Traditional HDDs aren't super common these days, but this is really nice to have around just to be safe.

I ordered this drive to be able to transfer my data from different drives on to one computer, so everything would be all together for once. I simply plugged it into my computer, popped in the drive, and began the transfer process. This will not take 9V drives or anything from the early 2000's, so if you're looking to transfer from a drive that's way older it won't happen with this one. However, for the up to date drives it works great!

Anything device like this nowadays really should use a more universal power cable. I imagine they could have used USB-C for power and then even A-to-A for data transfer.

I had two 2.5 laptop drives that I had on-hand and needed to wipe before recycling. One of them didn't real (flashing read light and it sounded like it was struggling to spin the disc), but the other read just fine and I was ablet to perform a full format on it.

With this hard drive dock the drive just easily slips into place and is held firm. This dock uses just a power cable and a USB cable, which are easier to tuck away when in use then a SATA cable and unsecured drive. This dock just sits on a desk and is ready to use whenever needed. So far has been used to examine the contents on several drives removed from old computers, and an 8TB disc stays in it to use as a permanent backup drive. It is easy to move around, and very quick to remove the drive from the dock in the event of having to evacuate the office.

I’ve had similar hard drive docks over the years and they have saved my data several times. We recently had a fire in our house and my existing dock along with my Mac mini got severely damaged. I was able to extract the internal 2.5” drive from the Mac Mini and this ORICO dock mounted it on my laptop within seconds so I could retrieve my data. The convertible usb cable is a nice touch for backward compatibility. Plug and play devices like this that just work out of the box are a joy. It’s not something most people will use daily, but for anyone with multiple computers, it’s a valuable tool to have.

In the past I have used a separate SATA cable to connect the drive, and a power cable as well. Problem being when needed can never remember where I put them, and with cable draped everywhere always the risk of pulling one lose.

I'm a big proponent of multiple backups, and bang for the buck, Hard Drive storage is still very economical. Using a Docking Station like this Orico model makes the transfer from working files to archival storage a no-brainer.

In use, it's nice and quiet, and the rubber feet are nice and grippy. Once I figured out the right direction for the cable, it worked predictably. The largest drive I have is a 12TB model; it read fine on this Orico Docking Station.

I do motion graphics and some video production work, and I'm always transfering files into/out of my computer. I use hard drives for offline storage, and I needed a new docking station. This Orico Hard Drive Docking Station looked good so I tried it out.

Perfect little unit and very handy to have, that is if you like the ability to just plug it in and use it without all the mounting required by other setups.
